Frequently Asked Questions

Thank you for considering me as a partner in your mental health care.

This page provides an overview of my practice and office policies, giving you the information needed to decide if we’re the right fit to work together.

  • I offer HIPAA-secure telehealth appointments for easy scheduling and accessibility. I also offer In person sessions in my office in Port Townsend WA. As a licensed provider in Washington state, I can only see patients who are located in the state at the time of the session.

  • My fee is $225 for an individual 50-60 minute session and $250 for an initial 80-minute intake session. I do not accept sliding scale.

Many clients who have Health Saving Accounts (HSA) are able to pay directly with their benefit card for full reimbursement. Flex Saving Accounts (FSA) often require you to submit a detailed invoice (superbill) and often cover full session costs.

  • I’m an out-of-network provider and do not accept insurance directly. However, I can provide a receipt (a “superbill”) for you to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement if you have out-of-network benefits. I also work with a biller who can submit out-of-network claims on your behalf as a courtesy.

Before starting, I recommend checking with your insurance provider about your out-of-network coverage. Helpful questions to ask:

    • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?

    • What is my deductible, and has it been met?

    • How many sessions are covered per year?

    • What is the reimbursement rate for out-of-network therapy?

    • How much will I be reimbursed per session?

  • I ask clients to set aside 1.5 hours for our initial session as we will more thoroughly review the issues bringing you to therapy any relevant health/mental health history as well as focus on the development of the goals you hope to achieve in therapy. I ask all new clients to complete approximately 20 minutes of paperwork in advance of this session to support these goals.

  • Therapy isn’t always a long-term commitment. There are times when deeper work is helpful, and others when less support is needed.

I ask new clients to start with weekly sessions for the first few months to build trust and a strong foundation. As we progress, we can adjust the frequency based on your goals—many clients eventually shift to biweekly sessions.
